Five on Friday

as our due date gets closer, the weeks are flying by even faster! only four more Fridays {after today} left before her arrival {if she is right on schedule} and I cannot believe it! I feel a bit conflicted – excited yet nervous, prepared but I need to do just a few more things, ready for the hubby and I to become parents yet sad to be closing our “newlyweds” chapter and physically like I’m doing well but I can barely roll out of bed myself, etc. I’m sure these are typical feelings when a couple is less than a month away from adding a little human to their world, but I can still feel a little crazy now and then! in effort to keep my mind at ease and relaxed I figured a five on Friday “brain dump” would be great to feel organized before the weekend!

one.

I know it will be a whole post in itself, but packing a hospital bag has put on so much pressure! its only for a couple of days, but how can I possibly have everything I need for a little person I’ve never met?! I’ve found list after list on Pinterest and used them all to create my own MEGALIST. thank goodness Todd’s frame of mind is a little more logical than mine at the moment to talk me out of packing the kitchen sink!  I mean, all of our family lives within a couple miles of our house if we forgot anything but I am still tempted to pack like I did for our two week honeymoon! {I’m definitely a self-proclaimed over-packer}

two.

miss mini michaels’ closet is already full…yet I found myself on the Gap and Old Navy websites this week! she is going to be adorable next holiday season! can’t. stop. won’t. stop.

with just 4 weeks left to prepare, I really want to step up my meal planning game! we’ve been collecting ready to heat meals in the freezer to cook those first few weeks when the babe arrives, but we need more! can’t wait to try these couple of recipes from Pinterest that I hope will freeze well and be easy to heat up in a pinch!

I saw this headband on Mint and Arrow’s Instagram a couple weeks back and I’m wishing I ordered it sooner for our little valentine! {nothing haunts you like the stuff you didn’t buy, am I right?}

I’ve been loving my 2015 Emily Ley Simplified Planner, and even more all of the free printables she has been creating! how’s everyone doing with their 2015 organization goals?!

Five on Friday {maternity photo outfits}

this weekend, Todd and I are taking some maternity photos with Jillian Rose Photography and Nick Charrow Photography. both were advertising holiday mini sessions and I thought 26 weeks was a great time to take some pictures with a cute belly and have them just in time for Christmas cards! of course, the weekend has arrived and I’m scrambling to put together a couple of outfits for us…these are the five that I’ve basically come down to. I’m planning for one dressier {use that term loosely} outfit and one more casual {see: the jeans or leggings}.

Five on Friday {maternity photo outfits}

let’s hope I can make a choice by tomorrow and the hubby has something to match! any suggestions?!

Five on Friday

in light of last week’s news, we’ll have five on friday {baby edition}!

besides the obvious – {starting a family, caring for another human, teaching them to do fun things and navigate through life, etc.} – finding out we were expecting brought with it so much more to look forward to!

one. the outfits

gold hearts the dude jcrew baseball  gray

just glancing around the J.CREW baby page is enough to make me swoon! so many cute options for little guys and gals for just everyday wear! don’t get me started with holidays and special occasions!

two. actually…let’s do

to me, holidays are the highlight of the year! I’m always counting down to the next one and can’t wait to experience them through the eyes of my mini! I’ve seen Christmas lights and gone trick-or-treating for 26 years –  so a fresh perspective is going to be amazing!

I’ve been excited for holidays with a baby for so long, I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to them! with our mini due in February I can’t wait to cover him/her in lipstick kisses!

three. the nursery decor!

neutral boy nursery    neutral nursery    girl nursery inspiration    rh baby nursery

I have always been drawn to a neutral-ish nursery design with just some accents of color and girl or boy touches! I’m so excited to get the green paint in the new nursery covered with a subtle ‘greige’ and add hints of blue or pink!

four. an excuse to be a kid again {kind of}.

play-dates at the park, rainy days watching Disney classics and reading bedtime stories that I haven’t opened in years are just a few things that I am so excited to do again! obviously I’m the parent now, but who doesn’t love having a picnic under the trees or cuddling on the couch with Belle?

five. watching everyone in their new roles.

witnessing my husband become a father, our parents become grandparents, sisters turn to aunties, cousins become playmates and friends be the fun aunties and uncles will be one of the greatest parts! we have such an amazing support system of family and friends and their joy throughout this pregnancy so far is just a little preview of how amazing they will be when our little one arrives!!

Five on Friday

it’s Friday again!! although I’ve skipped a couple, Five on Friday is such a fun way to link up and organize my thoughts at the end of the week…and trust me, this week could definitely use some organizing!  with a best friend’s wedding fast approaching and my sister-in-law’s wedding festivities about to begin, I’m planning to do some wedding-event related tips, tricks & ideas posts!

one. planning an engagement party

two. all things bridal shower

three. planning a bachelorette party

four. diy wedding ideas

five. what to do with wedding photos

not the most exciting five on friday post…but I’m super excited for what is to come and to be more dedicated to growing the whitney michaels blog!

did you wish you had any better information or ideas when planning your bridal events or for friends?

Five on Friday

today is friday, tomorrow is the official start of summer and I’ve recently added to my summer wardrobe and can’t wait to share my purchases!
five on friday 6.20.14
one. {floral maxi dress} who doesn’t love a comfortable maxi dress? I’ve worn it casual with sandals and a jean jacket in the evening and I can wait to wear it to the beach with a big floppy hat!
two. {blue dressy romper} love it or hate it, the romper can be dressed up or down! I love the material and ruffles on this romper and think it will be perfect paired with some pumps for an evening at a friend’s bachelorette party in San Diego this summer!
three. {camo shorts} neutral, stretchy and oh so comfortable! I love the way these shorts fit and that {to me} they are basically a neutral and I can add a pop of color or go easy with a black or tan top!
four. {neutral wedges} again…neutral and comfortable! I am obsessed with shoes {even though I hardly wear all the heels I own}.  I am more likely to grab these knowing they with be nice to my tootsies even if I wear them all afternoon!
five. {wifey tee} I’m loving the “wifey” trend! my hubby has always referred to me as his wifey {see how it all started below} and this tee is perfect for a casual date night!

have a fabulous weekend!

Five on Friday

friday is here already! the week has just flown by and I’m ready for a full weekend of productivity {mostly on a better organization system for this blog} and fun! I’m linking up again for five on friday with AprilChristina, Natasha and Darci!

one. this weekend is father’s day and I {of course} waited until the last minute to plan everything! hopefully a relaxing evening having a barbecue at my house will be fun for dad {even if he has to wait another week for his gift to arrive}. it will be totally worth it though! he is a barbecuing king and will be so excited to have the mega version of his favorite barbecue!

two. I’ve heard so many great things about this contour kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills that when I heard it would re-stock at Sephora at nine o’clock yesterday morning, I set a reminder! let’s hope it lives up to all the reviews!

three. {married life humor}

laundry

yesterday was not a successful day! anyone else with me? definitely need a better system when it comes to a laundry routine!

four. tomorrow I finally made the time to try a kickboxing class at the gym! let’s hope I can still walk by monday…

five. after said kickboxing class, I will be consuming all of the calories burned {plus some} while cake tasting with a friend for her wedding!

I am looking forward to this for many reasons: I LOVE cake {who doesn’t?}, I will be visiting the sweet cake decorator that created our wedding cakes {Jennifer at For Heaven’s Cakes is wonderful} and I’m so excited for my friend to continue making progress on her wedding planning!

Five on Friday

one. as a self-proclaimed list maker, I’ve decided there is nothing more appropriate than for my first blog post to be a list!

two. I have been following along this Friday link up for months and months and just love reading about the new adventures of April and Christina and their adorable new baby girls.

three. not only is this a great day because it’s Friday, but it is also National Doughnut Day! {You can see how I celebrated over on Instagram}

four. I ventured to a new restaurant this week! In celebration of my best friend’s birthday, we had lunch at the Panini Cafe…so delish and a fun afternoon off from work!

five. on the search for the perfect “greige” paint color! I’ve caught on to the trend and I’m dying to give our house a mini face lift of sorts!
