Summer Bucket List 2014 {progress}

summer is already {more than}  halfway over and it has flown by! we’ve checked off a couple items from my bucket list for this year, but still have a lot to cover in the next few weeks!

{one. go camping at least 3 times.} almost there with this one! we have a reservation for this weekend which will be our third camping trip this summer – also the third trip for the new trailer!

{two. make these yummy grilled shortcake kebabs.} not yet…still look SO good though.

{three. make sangria.} nope, but there’s still time!

{four. celebrate forth of July at home for the first time. maybe even make some festive goodies.} yes! well, not our home but at a friends house for a bbq during the day and then met up with our besties for a little night hiking and a beautiful view of the fireworks!

{five. take  a trip to laughlin, nv to go boating.} almost. we did have a reservation and a plan to make this happen, this week actually! but unfortunately my husband’s work and some other things came up and we had to cancel! we’ll try again next year!

{six. master the mocktail for those all day pool adventures that alcohol doesn’t make an appearance!} not quite…maybe I’ll try a version of a sangria and knock two out at once!

{seven. go to a farmers market.} still on the list…

{eight. go to the beach.} also on the list!

{nine. do one major house project.} uh oh! running out of time!

{ten. acquire a {no tan line} glow for the wedding I’m in at the end of summer!} eh, not so much! but hopefully I can work on that camping this weekend and at the bachelorette party for said wedding next month!

I guess the progress isn’t looking so good! {2/10?!} the end of summer is going to be full!

hope everyone is having a great summer!

Five on Friday

today is friday, tomorrow is the official start of summer and I’ve recently added to my summer wardrobe and can’t wait to share my purchases!
five on friday 6.20.14
one. {floral maxi dress} who doesn’t love a comfortable maxi dress? I’ve worn it casual with sandals and a jean jacket in the evening and I can wait to wear it to the beach with a big floppy hat!
two. {blue dressy romper} love it or hate it, the romper can be dressed up or down! I love the material and ruffles on this romper and think it will be perfect paired with some pumps for an evening at a friend’s bachelorette party in San Diego this summer!
three. {camo shorts} neutral, stretchy and oh so comfortable! I love the way these shorts fit and that {to me} they are basically a neutral and I can add a pop of color or go easy with a black or tan top!
four. {neutral wedges} again…neutral and comfortable! I am obsessed with shoes {even though I hardly wear all the heels I own}.  I am more likely to grab these knowing they with be nice to my tootsies even if I wear them all afternoon!
five. {wifey tee} I’m loving the “wifey” trend! my hubby has always referred to me as his wifey {see how it all started below} and this tee is perfect for a casual date night!

have a fabulous weekend!

Summer Bucket List 2014

as the first day of summer approaches, I am dreaming of pool days, tan legs and cocktails on the rocks!

the days are longer and the nights are hotter and I thought it would be fun to put together a bucket list of trips we’ve been meaning to take, recipes I’ve been meaning to make and other fun stuff to make summer 2014 awesome!

Summer Bucket List 2014 square

one. go camping at least 3 times.

two. make these yummy grilled shortcake kebabs. perfect for a summer bbq!

three. make sangria. if you’ve seen my board dedicated to drinks on pinterest , you would think I’m an expert. wrong. I’ve never made sangria! this recipe from gimme some oven is for the BEST sangria – I’m thinking its a good place to start! it looks pretty too!

four. celebrate forth of july at home for the first time. maybe even make some festive goodies – including these drinks made by jessica at little baby garvin that are equal parts yummy and beautiful!

forth of july

five. take  a trip to laughlin, nv to go boating. (I’ve been doing this twice a summer since I was a kid – but the past couple years we haven’t made it out)

six. master the mocktail for those all day pool adventures that alcohol doesn’t make an appearance! I found these lovely recipes on a beautiful mess that I can’t wait to try!

seven. go to a farmers market.

eight. go to the beach.

paradise cove

who wouldn’t want to spend the day on the sand in malibu? I love paradise cove for its perfect beach area and cafe and bar close by!

nine. do one major house project.

ten. acquire a {no tan line} glow for the wedding I’m in at the end of summer!

looks like we will be doing a lot of drinking, beaching and hanging outside this summer! hopefully we can fit in some productivity at some point and get to that house project!

what are your plans for summertime? I’ll be documenting my progress on instagram – #summerbucketlist2014

Five on Friday

friday is here already! the week has just flown by and I’m ready for a full weekend of productivity {mostly on a better organization system for this blog} and fun! I’m linking up again for five on friday with AprilChristina, Natasha and Darci!

one. this weekend is father’s day and I {of course} waited until the last minute to plan everything! hopefully a relaxing evening having a barbecue at my house will be fun for dad {even if he has to wait another week for his gift to arrive}. it will be totally worth it though! he is a barbecuing king and will be so excited to have the mega version of his favorite barbecue!

two. I’ve heard so many great things about this contour kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills that when I heard it would re-stock at Sephora at nine o’clock yesterday morning, I set a reminder! let’s hope it lives up to all the reviews!

three. {married life humor}

yesterday was not a successful day! anyone else with me? definitely need a better system when it comes to a laundry routine!

four. tomorrow I finally made the time to try a kickboxing class at the gym! let’s hope I can still walk by monday…

five. after said kickboxing class, I will be consuming all of the calories burned {plus some} while cake tasting with a friend for her wedding!

I am looking forward to this for many reasons: I LOVE cake {who doesn’t?}, I will be visiting the sweet cake decorator that created our wedding cakes {Jennifer at For Heaven’s Cakes is wonderful} and I’m so excited for my friend to continue making progress on her wedding planning!

{our wedding cakes}

I am thinking this will lead to a series of wedding related posts since I love the wedding planning process so much!

have a fabulous weekend…cheers to dad!

Five on Friday

one. as a self-proclaimed list maker, I’ve decided there is nothing more appropriate than for my first blog post to be a list!

two. I have been following along this Friday link up for months and months and just love reading about the new adventures of April and Christina and their adorable new baby girls.

three. not only is this a great day because it’s Friday, but it is also National Doughnut Day! {You can see how I celebrated over on Instagram}

four. I ventured to a new restaurant this week! In celebration of my best friend’s birthday, we had lunch at the Panini Cafe…so delish and a fun afternoon off from work!

five. on the search for the perfect “greige” paint color! I’ve caught on to the trend and I’m dying to give our house a mini face lift of sorts!
